MusyX
is now available for Game Boy Advance, offering
macro-based, programmable MIDI and sound
effects playback with a highly efficient
performance to bring portable video-game
sound to a level unlike anything you have
ever heard.
The MusyX
Audio Tool even includes a certified Dolby™
Surround Sound encoder for continuous sample
streaming and psycho-acoustic effects. It
offers up to 32 mixed sample voices and
fully supports the synthetic Programmable
Sound Generation (PSG) voices which have
been adopted from the traditional Game Boy
system. In contrast to other sound
systems, MusyX
Audio Tool offers direct control of the
generated sound.
The SMaL programming language offers a
unique way to influence the way a sample
is played back. Other systems rely heavily
on a set of parameters like vibrato, envelope,
etc., to define a sound. This approach limits
the extent of influence one can take on
the sound itself. Factor 5 Audio Tool's
SMaL programming language allows writing
simple programs which take full control
of the sound over time. Even multiple samples
may be started. The possibilities are end-less.
While offering all these extended features,
the system can still be used as a General
MIDI player. The music for example, can
be composed as a General MIDI piece with
only the lead instruments and sound effects
taking advantage of the extended features
MusyX
Audio Tool has to offer.
All features of the system are controlled
from within the included editor. The editor
offers customized editing capabilities for
all data types needed to define sounds.
A drag and drop SMaL programming editor,
graphical ADSR definition, easy to use explorer-style
representation of the data within the project,
library functionality and more are integrated
into the tool.
